Spring's A Commin'

It's been a while since I posted. Winter has been flat out depressing when combined with the COVID lockdowns. We're both fine and keeping busy but not being able to get out more has been more of a strain than either of us could have ever imagined. But spring is just around the corner and we should start seeing temperatures in the 40s next week. That will definitely help.

We're working on year 3 of our 5 year landscaping plan and will be adding 26 trees to the property this year. We've just waiting for the right weather to get them in the ground. Here is the list of trees for this year.

8 Whitebuds
3 Red Oaks
2 Goldenrain
3 Red Buckeys
1 Deodar Golden Cedar
2 October Glory Maples
2 Vanderwolf Pines
1 Tulip tree
3 Redbuds
1 Atlas Cedar

Watering new trees throughout the first growing season was a bit of a trick in the past. Dragging hundreds of feet of hose from tree-to-tree wasn't a lot of fun but we've got a better way now. We're putting a water tank on the gator and will be driving around to do the watering. That will be a lot easier for sure. This should bring the tree count on our 3 acres up to around 70 trees. It sounds like a lot but it's really not when they're spread out.

In other news… We just found out that our niece and her husband, Savannah & David Miller, will be visiting us this year. Hooray! Can't wait to see them. If anyone else is thinking about heading our way just let us know. There's always room at la granja Crabtree.

That's it for today. Stay safe and warm.
